FAQ

What is shooting with you like?

My goal during a session is for you to forget I'm there! I value candid, natural moments, and will encourage you to focus on your family. I'll prompt and adjust you if needed, but believe the best memories and most beautiful images come from you just enjoying the company of your loved ones. Almost all my families tell me they forgot they were taking photos!

How do we choose a location for our sesion?

Whether you want cacti, an open field, a desert, or an urban or studio environment, I have lots of different convenient locations with perfect lighting for your session. Just let me know what you're envisioning and I'll take you to the perfect spot!

How and when will we get our photos back?

I deliver all my galleries in a private viewing experience through a download link sent directly to your email! All galleries have a 1-2 week turnaround time, unless otherwise stated upon booking.

What should we wear for our session?

What you wear to your session MATTERS, and I want you to LOVE your photos! I highly recommend light, warm neutrals because they photograph so well, and am always available for advice on matching colors and patterns with family members. Pick something you can sit, stand, squat, and move in comfortably. I'll help you remember to empty your pockets and leave the Apple Watches at home ;)

When is the best time to schedule maternity and newborn photos?

You can schedule your maternity photos whenever you'd like! I recommend picking a time where you feel most confident and radiant with your growing belly--for some, that's third trimester, and for other's, it's second--it's up to you! Newborn sessions should take place within the first 14 days of baby's life to help ensure they stay sleepy during their session!

How do we pay for our session?

All sessions require a non-refundable deposit at booking to reserve your spot, and is part of the total session cost. Deposits are always 50% of the total cost of the shoot and must be paid via electronic platform. The remainder of the session cost is due on or before the day of the session via Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, cash or check.

Can we bring our pets to our shoot?

Absolutely! As long as the location doesn't have any rules against it, I'm all for bringing your fur babies along! I have two cats, and while they hate being in photos, I still love them ;)

The Fine Print

I will send out a questionnaire and contract for all sessions, and your slot is not reserved until your contract is e-signed and returned. If you have any questions about your contract, please message me before you sign! Your questionnaire helps me get to know you before we meet at the session. Have fun with this, be as thorough as you can, and feel free to ask for anything you might want during the session! Please complete both of these before our scheduled time!

All sessions require a deposit at the time of booking, the size of the deposit is always 50% of the total cost of the session. Session is not booked until deposit is paid, and deposit is part of the total cost of the session. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable, but if for some reason you can't make it to your session, you can find another family or couple to take and pay for it in full, and receive a refund for your deposit. This is the only instance where deposits will be refunded.

I accept Venmo, Apple Pay, Zelle, or cash/check payments. Please take care when sending electronic payments to send the payment as "friends and family" so the payment platform does not take a percentage. If this happens, I will ask you to pay the difference.

Sessions are only rescheduled in the event that I am too sick to shoot, or if the weather is too extreme to shoot safely. Some of my favorite sessions have taken place on overcast or even rainy days, so don't worry if there's clouds or a slight drizzle! Cloud covers scatter the light and make for beautiful, even skin tones!

The remainder of your session cost is due on or before the day of the session, and I do not begin the editing process until the session is paid in full. Once the session is complete, no refunds will be given under any circumstances. In the unlikely event that my gear malfunctions and photos are lost, we will schedule a reshoot, but this has never happened before.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes earlier than our scheduled start time. If you are a few minutes late, we can adjust the shoot accordingly, as long as there is still sunlight, and I don't have a client after you. If you will be more than 15 minutes late, your gallery size will be reduced due to loss of sunlight, or we may need to cancel the shoot entirely and your deposit will not be refunded. I always send out reminders the day of the shoot, and a few days before!

My editing style is light, creamy and warm, and I value candid, cinematic movements. Please be sure you've viewed lots of different galleries and are happy with my shooting and editing style before you book! I want you to LOVE your photos! I will deliver sneak peeks within the first few days following our shoot, and the full gallery within 1-2 weeks, but my turnaround time is subject to change during busier seasons. A rush fee is available if you need your gallery back sooner. I do not deliver the RAW (unedited) files to clients under any circumstance, as I consider them unfinished work.

All images delivered in the online gallery are yours to use and print! You may also print your photos through the online gallery, and they are shipped directly to you! There are lots of beautiful print options including canvases, frames, and cards! Please download your ENTIRE gallery within a month of receiving it! I highly recommend saving it in multiple places in case of a technology failure. DO NOT SCREENSHOT from the online gallery! This compromises the images' quality and crop. I regularly clear out my galleries to free up space for new clients, and while I back up all my shoots on a hard drive, re-uploading old sessions for clients who forgot to download them is time consuming and will incur an extra charge, outlined in my contracts.

As you can see in my newborn galleries, I am a lifestyle newborn photographer and believe the sweetest photos of your babe are the ones where they're snuggled up in your arms. I do not do gauze wraps or staged/prop newborn photography, but you are of course welcome to swaddle your baby for our session! I believe consent is so important and will not handle your newborn without your permission and will always ask before touching or adjusting any of my clients.

I shoot on a Canon 6D Mark II with a 35mm 1.4 Ultrasonic lens and always carry backup equipment (Canon 80D with a 50mm 1.8 lens).

By booking a session with me and signing your contract, you agree to abide by the aforementioned terms and give permission for any of your images to be used on my socials, marketing materials, and website. Special exceptions may be made for photos of a sensitive nature, if you request, including photos of newborns without diapers on (if you ask for shots like these during your session--I do not take them standardly, but will if you ask), and nursing photos.
